Padre Island

We were guided to go to Padre Island, a beautiful, wild beach with an undeveloped coastline almost 70 miles long.  There we "fell into" a campground hosting opportunity that enabled us to stay there for 5 months.  Our duties included orienting campers, fending off coyotes, wrangling rattlesnakes, dodging lightning and rescuing sea turtles.  What an amazing chapter in our journey!   Click on the pictures for a large version.

Here are some pictures from Aidan's 7th Birthday here on Padre Island.  We went up to Mustang Island just north of Padre for a Horse-riding on the beach!  It was a blast for the kids and we had a great time watching!

Here are final images from Padre Island.  We completed our Hosting on September 14th, 2004 and left early on the morning of the 15th just as the hurricane was coming ashore, heading to Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit new friends there.
